In yoga philosophy there is a teaching of the 4 functions of Mind (Antarkarana)
1. Mamas -receives sensory input from the world around you
2. Citta- where that sensory input is stored and a story about it is formed
3. Ahamkara - the “I maker” where we form our self of self
4. Buddhi - our higher mind. Source of wisdom
We explore them in today’s guided meditation.

A chakra is a part of your energy anatomy. There are 7 main point along your spine where 2 nerves intersect and create an energy center. Each has a color associated as well as an arriviste that it supports.

Welcome everyone. For this episode I did a little something different.
We will be enjoying a pranayama (breathing)meditation. We will be enjoying a segmented breath- taking the breath in for 4 second long sniffs/strokes and breathing it out in the same way.
When we segment the breath in this way it stimulates the pituitary gland in the center of the brain awakening your higher mind.

Greetings one and all. My name is Jessie Kates. I am a Mindfulness & Meditation teacher who has studied under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach for over a decade. Certifications aside, I am really just a human trying to do the best I can to be at peace during this messy, short life.
Meditation has been a powerful life saver for me. As I do my best to navigate being a parent, business owner and human, I have found meditation helpful. It has given me the tools to learn to ride the waves of life with more ease, presence and grace.
It brings me deep joy to share the practice and be of service so we all can awaken to the peace accessible already within us.
